Getting there

Then, turn right onto 14th St NW and walk straight until you see the entrance of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History directly after Madison Dr NW. You won't miss it, as the museum is a prominent establishment on the right side of the road.
To get to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington D.C. using a bike, start from Union Station. From Union Station, head west on E St NE towards Columbus Cir NE. Turn right onto 5th St NW and then turn left at the 2nd cross street onto D St NW. Continue on D St NW until you reach 9th St NW and then turn right. Bike for about 2 blocks and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History will be on your left. This route is approximately 2.6 miles and should take about 18-20 minutes. If you are using Metrorail, take the Orange, Blue, or Silver lines and disembark at the Federal Triangle or Smithsonian stations. From either station, it is just a short walk to reach the museum.
